Not feeling too bad posting after the old guy before me.

I remember seeing JFK get off a plane @ Idlewild Airport in Queens, NY ....

i mussed RFK's hair in 68.

i went to see him speak at the bsu gym. it was packed to the rafters. (it was across the street from the architecture building...still there too). he spoke. when it was over we tried to walk towards the exit on the opposite end of the gym from the podium. we were on the south side about at mid court of the basket ball court, half way up in the bleachers. there was no going against the flow. everybody was headed toward where he was trying to leave the arena. folks were tight like sardines. next to me a young woman lost her footing and went down. i grabbed her under the armpits and lifted her up so she wouldn't get trampled. she got her feet back under her. meanwhile we were constantly flowing toward where bobby was exiting. suddenly i looked ahead and saw him coming toward me. he passed right in front of me...i reached out and tostled his hair....people did that to him back then...that is all i remember of that day.

later he won several primaries and then california (and was certain to be the dem nominee)....and then was dead.

martin luther king fell to an assasin that spring also.

it was open season on left leaning pols who would end the vietnam war.

they said the guy who shot him did it because bobby was sympathetic to isreal. sirhan sirhan was some middle easterner, i forget which country he was originally from.... i would say arab...but might be wrong about that. he is still in prison...he comes up to be considered for parole from time to time and so far hasn't gotten it.

loner crazy guy.

i would say only left leaning pols get shot but there was lincoln and mckinley....not to mention george wallace....but the shooting of wallace assured nixon's victory in 72. come to think of it bobby's assassination assured nixon's victory in 68.

i am not sure what party garfield was.

I have bullet holes older than most of these guys

I attribute my excellent health and physical condition to consistant exercise and forty years of smoking pot.

Youth and enthusiasm will always be outdone by age and treachery

I was reading this post and only found one (Gert) that would admit to being over 60. Well, I am 64 now and it took me the first 60 years or so to find the MB I wanted. That 84 500SEL started it. It is by far the finest car I have ever owned and I have owned a lot. Mostly new cars until 1982 when I paid $14,500 for a Buick Regal and it was by far the worst car I have ever owned for the money. By the way, I paid $500.00 for the 500 and many hours of labor.

I have grandchildren older than most of you. Got my first MB when I was 69, wish I would have had one earlier in life. Enjoy maintaining it myself with the help of my son, grandson, and daughter. By the way, I'm 76.

You are only as old as you feel. And a lot of that is in your head.
