52.

I can't believe that I almost literally put our 85TD out to pasture when I was 42, and now, almost 10 years later, I'll have her on the road again in a couple of weeks.

I am 27, my 240D is 34. I drive her like I stole her and she loves every minute of it.

I am still around, will be 81 in December, just did the facelift on my 87 wagon, and overhauling marine transmissions in my spare time.I no longer take them out or put them back in the boats.
One of the things i have failed at in my lifetime is "retiring",i just dont seem to get it right, maybe ill try it again in a couple of years. Don

Was sixty five when I posted on this thread originally. Now seventy and some of my contemporaries are starting to disapear.

Fortunatly I seem to suffer no noticeable deterioration yet since that first post. Hope things are fairly simular for you as well. Think now I may never truly retire. Unless my health mandates it at some point. The last twenty years I have not worked for the monitary gain aspect either.

That's pretty cool. I am proud of our elders still gittin' it. My dad is 65 and just built a Factory Five Shelby Cobra. He's had a smile on his face that a good, square punch in the mouth couldn't stop. He has already said he'll retire when he's dead.

I am 37 and do not plan to retire...prolly just as well, since retirement is mostly unaffordable.

My eulogy will be something along the lines like..."Yep. He was found slumped over the engine compartment with a wrench in his cold, gripped hand, and a gritty, grimaced, perplexed look on his face. And the cuss words were still heard swirling around the car he was working on hours after they found him."

Hey Don.

Thanks for posting!!! I read this entire thread yesterday.....guess I didn't see it back in 2007 because I never replied. Well, anyway, I'm 5 years older now.....Math is GREAT!!!
  • I'm now 54; will be 55 in January. I just noticed my good forum friend Charlie has a birthday in January, too.
  • So, Charlie, what year are we celebrating our birthdays together?
  • How about we wait until I've got a good looking w126 diesel with all the maintenance items taken care of on it and then I'll drive out to meet you in person?
  • Anyone want to predict what year that might be?
