so i go over to the indy and it is running at a 100. figure out theres some air in it, fill it up she runs in the mid eighties still after idling for 40 minutes with ac on. take it for a little spin go back still at mid 80's. so i blow off the pressure test. drive home stop and go it gradually climbs to 100 drops back down a bit. then levels off at 100.

so i ll go back on mon. and get the pressure test

block drain 1994 E-320

Not a Guru, but take note. I tried to remove the block drain in my 1994 E320 an was unable to get it out or back in far enough to seal it completely. Must be junk in the way? I did the citrus flush and finished with baking soda but without removing that darn drain I don't feel like I got the full effect of the flush. That idea to backflush through the block drain and out the t stat casting is interesting. I removed all the small hoses I could reach and flushed water thru in both directions. Still not confident it's fully flushed. Now I have a problem with the idle. Wife came home from work and idle was surging bet 500 and 1000 rpm. Could this be caused by not having coolant just water ? Previous coolant was wrong, even tho I had radiator replaced by indy shop. Mucho dinero. That was before I knew anything about the beast.

Nervously anticipating next malfunction

... pressure test has been held up.

woke up this morning feeling like i need to tinker. (thanks for the advice again this mornin)

mb coolant and some extra special auto store " special cooling sauce" and it stays at 90 (better). when i put the ac on it will blow # 10 fuse (aux. fan relay, int. blower motor, etc.)

is there a short? new used aux fan. wasnt blowing a fuse before this, but ac has been intermittent. i get no heat either (it does blow cool)

i dont know

doesnt blow with ec button on - just ac

How is the refrigerant level? When its low, sometimes it tends to blow fuse.

Get it checked at a proper a/c repair shop.

put a new behr in yesterday still running at a 100. going to check block temp to see if it is 100.

reason i decided to replace rad. during pressure test noticed a hairline crack in it, with water ever so slightly "fizzy" out. as well as there was a 20 degree difference between an area of 4 inches or so.

# 10 fuse blowing hopefully is that mb wiring harness fix that is mounted on to the drivers wheel well- any i dea what the name of this is?

i am leaning towards having a bad gauge as far as the 100 degree reading is?

Hey, I am about 1/2 way through my clean/cool down process on my SD, if it works well does anybody want me to post the full process I used? tons of cleaning and flushing etc... a few hose bypasses to aid in complete flushing. etc.

Just to throw this out there, but I'm pretty sure that the mark half way between 120 and 80 is actually 90* (despite the fact that it's 1/2 way).

well, that would be odd, since the mark between 80 and 40 should be 60... why would any gauge manufacturer do unequal graduations like that? so you think the gauge goes 40 something, 80, 90, then jumps up to 120? hmm. I have no evidence to dispute it, but it does not make sense.

The spacing of the marks on the fuel gauge don't make much sense either.

I remember reading it somewhere, lemme see if I can find it. Of course, you can't believe everything you read.

I also believe that mark is for 100C, but I could be wrong. The spacing on the fuel gauge has to do with the shape of the tank.

?????
Wouldn;t that be nice!

There is one mark bet 80C & 120C
Seems each mark is 20 C so wouldn/t tha mark be 100C not 90C

I'd rather it be 90C as that would mean I'm running cooler.

I assume my car is 25 years old
& temp guages are a bit off so I;d rather run as low as possible to spec.
