The Mistress was hit today!!! (pics)

Well it happened early this morning on my drive into work. I was 3 blocks from work an at 5:54, a "lady" ran a stop sign and now the Mistress, 1983 300CD turbo, has a bent driver side lower control arm guide rod, the spring is popped out with the lower spring pad bent as well. The fender is smushed and I will have to find a replacement.

I'm wondering if a fender from a 300D will fit her, if any one knows, chime in please. I'll also have to find the headlight mounting casting, as well as the headlight trim. A new turn signal/corner amber light will have to be found as well.

On the bright side, no one was hurt, the Mistress is not damaged operationally, at least as far as can be ascertained at this time. She's not leaking any fluid, the oil pan has a dent in it, but otherwise she looks to be fine running wise.

I called my MB dealer aand ordered the guide rod and lower spring pad, they will arrive Friday. I plan to hit the pick & pull Friday morning looking for the assorted items that will be needed, but I am concerned that a decent fender will be hard to come by.

The car that was driven by the "lady" was a yellow Chevrolet Aveo LS. see pic. It's toast as you can see.

The front ends of the 300D and the 300CD are identical.

Another crazed Michigan driver caused accident! Glad your 300CD survived with repairable injury. Some new suspension parts, light, fender.....and it should be good to go! That aveo should be sent to the crusher where it belongs.

Be thankful it was such a wussy car that hit you, or else it could have been a lot more damage.

Thankfully this coupe can live on!

Thats very similar to what happened to me, the car ran a stop sign at 30-40 mph and smashed into my drivers side fender. I had to get the area behind the fender pulled out and put on a replacement fender. The drivers door was slightly damaged in the corner as well. That astro faired better than the car that hit me tho, there was transmission fluid and oil sprayed everywhere from when theirs exploded.. I didn't have any major damage to the rods/control arm tho, at least nothing an alignment couldn't fix.

Looks like that fender needed to go anyway, but this isn't the catalyst for replacement that I imagine you envisioned.
I guess the poster asking about the tie rod didn't see the "U" shaped one in one of your pics.
Please document your repair process and update the info in this thread. Will make for a nice story.
BTW, tell me her insurance is helping you out with this.

Bet you a dollar to a pig turd, and you can hold 'em both, that Aveo is a goner. Repairable, yes. Totaled, yes. No way an insurance company is going to fix that car, they aren't worth enough.

Glad the CD looks like it will live to see another day, oh, and you too

Any insurance company would also total the 300CD. Thanks to crazy guys like us that the MBZ will live on. I hope you do not end up with a salvage titled car.
