I stand corrected.
when pulling the pads, the build up and gunk on the pad area was indeed in the way, I used a metal sawzal blade to clean out the area, but did not consider lubrication... I am leery of putting any grease near where it could get on the rotor. when anybody mentions greasing the "slide" area of a caliper, I think of a single sided sliding caliper. which these MB's do not have.

I used a file on the coarse rust on the spindle mount & slide areas for the calipers, then finished them with one of those semi abrasive fibre Roloc wheels on a die grinder. Then I went to the wrecker and looked around till I found a nice looking car with a busted timing chain, low and behold it looked to have had a very recent brake job (everything was still clean), snagged all 4 rotors, calipers, pads, & flex lines, ran me about $150 for everything, not bad for a complete brake job, lol. I'll tell ya, 4 yrs of sitting out in grass can really rust stuff up,lol. The piston seals can be replaced, not too hard to do either, I believe I removed the old ones by working a small flat blade screwdriver around them, theyre just a tight slip fit metal band cast in the rubber boot. I had to replace a couple of cut ones on mine.
