Help... MB Blown Engine!!!
A month back, my engine blew up in the middle of the road and died on me, spilling all the oil out of the crank case. I had it towed thinking that it was just a blown oil hose. But Unfortunately the block itself blew up. Now there are 2 huge holes in the engine block, the oil pump broke along with a piece of the block assy attached to it and the oil pan cracked, not to mention the 1 of the 5 connecting rods was completely broken off from the piston. At only 91,000 kms!!!
Cutting the long story short, Now I got a new block now off the local surplus market and am now trying to put it back together again. The problem is, I don't have the timing for the injection pumps and cams (engine is now at top dead center) Can anyone help please? Hello,
Seeing that you're in Manila, with the extreme traffic conditions there, you might want to look for surplus shops that sell used engines like Richy Chua's shop, Delodur, etc. See the MBCP (Mercedes Benz Club Philippines) site: www.mbcp.tk Not familiar with the MB100 engine but you can go to the Bosch shop along Quezon Ave & West Ave to have the IP and timing calibrated.

Not that familiar with that particular engine but timing should be pretty straight forward. First time the camshaft to the crankshaft by using the marks on the cam and verifying #1 at TDC. After you get that behind you you can then put the crank into the proper position for installation of the fuel injection pump. Basically, it amounts to putting the crank at a certain timing position, lining up marks on the IP and then installing it. I am not familiar enough with that particular engine to tell you where the crank has to be set for the ip installation. It is straightforward once you have the timing information. Hopefully, someone will come along here in a little while with a manual and the necessary information.

Thanks for your input guys. I myself am not too familiar with the 5 cylinder engines that Mercedes came out with. I really hope someone comes along who knows how to set the timing accurately. Or at least make it start just long enough for it to run to a shop for timing calibration perhaps?

Just out of curiosity what vehicle are you talking about? I've never heard of such a thing.

Isn't there a Ssangyong dealership in Manila that can provide the IP timing specs?
Maybe these folks can help you - http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34799 Sixto 87 300D |
