Ouch! How to drain? I had bad gas in my former Travco motorhome. It had an electric fuel pump on the generator hooked up to one of the two tanks. I drained that tank with the pump and then hooked up the lines from the other tank to the pump and pumped it out into 5 gallon containers.

Running WVO will greatly reduce the risk of filling up with the wrong fuel. I haven't been to a gas station in weeks!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Two surprises for me:

1. Tom W. doing such a thing.
2.

I'd mix the 2 gallons of oil and use it in my 116 MB Diesel. Or even better, mix it 20% with WVO. I mix 20% gasoline with WVO anyway.

Ouch. I am amazed that I have never done this myself, but I also find the fact that I am usually searching for a station with diesel keeps it on my mind... that and the fact that I only drive a diesel most of the time, so it is just "normal" by now.

But I have gotten questioned as well about whether I REALLY mean to get diesel... Too bad they didn't do the same about gas for you Tom.

What is amazing is that filling up the tank now costs about the same as a DIY oil change... with the amount of money I put into fuel, parts and maintenance are starting to look cheap!

Really surprised me

Just goes to show that accidents can and do happen. It has never happened to me yet - but I have come close once or twice!

Ahh, but thats not an option on those direct injection engines, wvo & bio have a tendency to gel in the system due to the excessive pressure is my understanding.

I was able to get about 22 gallons out, and put it in the pt cruiser, my associates el camino and stored for future use. I then went and got 10 gallons of diesel and added two quarts of the rotella to the tank. It is sitting out there now idling peacfully. I will go fill the rest of the tank with diesel and hope for the best.

It is the station I always go to most, and that is where i mis filled last time. I guess it gets too automatic there. I will have to start rotating the side of the pump or something to try to keep the mind off automatic pilot.

Oh I am very absent minded. When i get to thinking about things I can kindor sleepwalk through some amazingly silly actions.

One day I will tell about the time I left my family in a interstate rest area for several hours.

Good luck with that PT Cruiser...I got a new engine in my Grand Caravan last year due to a distributor putting diesel in the underground regular unleaded bulk tank. I had 1/4 tank of unleaded in the van to begin with. I put in 3/4 of a tank of some unknown percentage of diesel/unleaded. The engine was destroyed within 60 miles. My wife woke me up to ask why she had to almost floor it to keep it at 70mph. My first question was "How long has it been making that awful racket???" Oh, about 15 minutes....

Never heard of diesel destroying a gasser engine. I know it it too thick vaporize and ignite with a spark, but how can it destroy a gasser?

My guess is that it sticks to the cylinder walls, gets past the rings, breaks the crud in the bottom of the oil pan loose, and the crud clogs bearings & oil passages. Who knows. All I know is that the engine was shot and the fuel tank was loaded with diesel.

I am sorry that happened, Tom. You have SOOOO many cars, it is easy to see that happening.

It would be about my worst nightmare with a diesel.

I just read that next year the Bluetec Diesel will be available in California!!!

At least you won't need gas for your lawnmower for a long time.

I ran out of gas once in my chev astro and got a 5 gallon jerry can and filled it with diesel by mistake. THen put it in the tank. The thing barely ran...lots of white smoke. Filled it up with premium the next morning, and the next time after that and it ran fine. (Motor is at 393K)
