Parking Brake Cable Y-thingy
Hi, I'm trying to figure out what this part is called - I could not see it listed on any sites under "Brakes" section.
It's a device that is used to bring the parking cables together under the car. Maybe it's called something like Parking Brake Tensioner? Mine is rusted out pretty bad so I would like to replace it. Has anyone dealt with this before? |

I have recently. Put the car on four stands (or use a lift) to make life a little easier. A dealer could probably help, its not an expensive piece. One of those used on may models for many years deals.
If the adjusting nut is rusted/corroded solid be prepared to cut the metal- not a cable, obviously. Not that I know anybody who did this, of course. Hopefully you will be able to disconnect the cable attachments from the Y piece w/o too much trouble.

Actually, I've already taken it out - it's very rusty so that's why I want to replace it. I was not able to find the name for this part in online catalogs nor a local foreign parts store.
Do you think I have to go to the dealer? |

Try Fastlane above,, if they can't help you, it is probably not much money at the dealer. Most people think that since it is a Mercedes, all the parts are very expensive. Most sheet metal parts are less money than what you would pay for a comparable part on an American car, and most little mechanical objects, like you mentioned, are actually very inexpensive.
