Watched the whole thing and it is absolutely amazing, what these cars put up with! Don't know what it proved though?

Just finished watching it all. Wow. I was impressed by the opel and the MB (and the beetle, but thats a given). That W123 took a REAL beating and kept going. Like he mentioned at the end, it needed not much more than a sparkplug on the whole trip.

I bet with Rally tires and a locked rear diff, it'd have done it with little to no modification.

It proved that they can get a bunch of guys to watch just about anything regarding cars.... or wimmins... (spelled that way intentionally)

I liked how the much reviled Beetle just chugged along. There's a good reason why those cars were built in Nigeria for years after they quit making them in Germany. I think only Mexico and Brazil made them for longer...

I've been working out of China for over a month now, and a customer today in Ft. Worth said "Dude, I saw a car like that on Top Gear. It was in Africa".......
