I think the consensus on here is that 15,000 miles is a good interval for the valve adjustment. If you've gone 20,000 without a valve adjustment, you're past due. Go ahead and do it and give yourself the peace of mind of knowing when it was done.

I did both of mine in the past week and one valve out of 18 was within specs. I don't know when either of them was done last.

It might sound like its running fine but if your valves are tight then they are not closing properly. An important part of valve cooling is the valve stricking the valve seat upon closing and transfering the heat away from the valve. If your valves are too tight for too long then eventually your valve will break off into the engine and you will need an engine overhaul.

It's simple. If you don't know whether or not it's time, then it's time! You have to create a known starting point and track intervals from there.

I didn't want to make a new thread, apologize in advance if I am out of step about posting my question. Are valve adjustments simple to do or complicated? Where would I go to get more information about procedure?

Very simple. Less than an hour if you know what you are doing. Do a search. There is tons of info.

Last year, I purchased the DVD, tools, and the valve cover gasket from Diesel Giant. This was one of the best purchases I have ever made. Imagine being able to obtain a step by step video on how to work on a car made 25 years ago. DG and the internet ROCK!!
