207 307 209 309 407 508 etc. First number is chassis rating in tons. Last two numbers are hundreds and tens place of the horsepower of the engine. I've owned a 307d and a 409d.

No, the cam alone will not increase power. You will have recalibrate the injection pump to make use of the additional airflow.

I have the injection pump off the 1980 also. Do you know what else would need to be changed?.

The cam, cam towers, tappet arms and injection pump calibration, AFAIK.

Make sure the cam code is 05 instead of 00 or 08 so you know you have the right one before going to the trouble of changing it.
