And, you cannot use any of the Injectors for the later Mercedes Diesels as a source to make either tool as they have external threads of M22x1.5

I am selling the Prechamber tool I used last:

What did you make the pre-hamber puller out of? Did you order M22x1.0 threaded stock internationally and then drill and tap out the center of it?

It is made for part of a 7/8" grade 5 Bolt. I reduced the OD on my Lathe and used a M22x1 Die on the external threads and Drilled and tapped the internal threads for 5/8x16" to fit the Slide Hammer.
I am not sure the work involved is worth the effort when the Factory Made Tool is around $30 plus the shipping.
I made it the way I did so that the free AutoZone Rental Slide Hammer could be used (the same as my own Slide Hammer).
As, the Factory Made Puller I have is threaded for a Metric slide Hammer and I had to make an adapter to fit my own slide Hammer.

The M24x2 is a coarser thread and is easier to do with a Die

I have no idea where I would get any threaded Rod overseas and if I could find some I need it in such small quanities that it is not viable.
I also do not know what Coustoms Duties would need to be paid.

The good news is that the Puller I made works. One of our members in Long Beach had a Cracked Head that still had the Prechambers in it. So I set up a meet and took my Home Made tools and I also tried one of those Modified 7/8 sockets.
The 7/8 Socket with only tabs that fit in the slots did not work; jumped out of the slot.
My Ring Remove and the Puller worked.
I had to use the very first Prechamber Ring Removal Tool I made as it was all I had left.
It works the same but does not look like the one Pictured in this thread and that was previously sold.

pic for samboyellowsub

This is the 1/2" Drive 7/8" Socket upgraded with parts to hold it into the Prechamber Ring slot.
I have gone this direction with the tool because it was time consuming to cut the Hex on the tool in the previous Thread and the other alternative was to Weld the Hex on as I did with the firt 2 tools I made.

Welding works but my welding is not pretty and it exposes the tool to some heat. The heat may or may not cause a problem.

Here is a other self made tool.
The puller is made out of a 3/4" drive socket, the 3/4" square is still visible.
The inner part is made of mild steel.

The pre chamber puller used to be a 11mm deep impact socket.

Were the threading part operations done on a Lathe?

I have made and sold some but I fooled with different designs.

Several I made from a Bolt Head as in the Picture. OK for making one for Myself but too time consuming to turn it on a Lathe and then Mill the Pins that go into the Slots on the Ring.
I welded the Hex on the one in the Pic I also made some where I Milled the Hex.
I sold enough of them to pay back my expenses. But, I found it Dulled My Milling Bit and I would have had to upgrade my Tools and so on to continue making them that way and I moved on to other designs.

I bought the Wilbar Tool I am selling (Ad link in post #38) as part of the research .

The Prechamber Puller is another part of a Bolt I turned down on the Lathe and threaded; and, welded to a Rod Rod Coupling.

The Prechamber Tool in the AD I am selling is made of part of a Bolt threads externally and internally and is all one piece; no welding.

I bought one of those Bicycle Hub Tools to make into a Prechamber Puller but deceded not to use it. It is missing in action anyway.

Yes it's made on a lathe.
The prongs are milled.
I made this one about 14 years ago, and used it many, many times.
If I had to make it again, I would not weld a nut on the top, I would machine the whole thing.

As long as the Weld works and the Nut was centered there is no function difference between the Milled one and the welded one.
It just looks less homemade with out the Weld; and that does not matter when you make one for Yourself.

I found the Pic of the one I milled the Hex on. I made three if them like that and decided milling the Hex is too time consuming for the results; and infect I don't make any more of that design.

The Pic on the right is the first one I made compared to the Wilbar Prechmaber ring Tool. I welded large Nut to a section of Hex Rod and turned it on the Lathe so OD and ID would be centered. I still have the first one.

I also found out that only people who had an absolute need for the Tool bought them.

I try to buy Tools before I have need for them so I have time to shop for a good deal.
If you wait until you have to have one right now and you cannot make one as You did you end up paying through the Nose!

About a Month ago I bought a bunch of used Mercedes Tools or I should say abused Mercedes Tools as they almost all showed heavy handed use.

Below is a Prechamber Puller made to use with out a Slide Hammer. It looks like a Homemade job but it has KD and a Logo stamped on it and I have other Tools made by the Same Company; so it is not homemade.

However, you can see the weakness of the thin tube Tool design and it is a Tool that I think could only be used on an Engine with an Iron Cylinder Head.

Like the other Tools it was not used with care, there is a crack in the one picture caused the locating tab of a Precombustion Chamber. Evidently the User of the Tool just kept turning it further than the Tool was made to pull the Chamber.
The tube is also slightly warped; and it look as if someone hammered it back into the shape it is in now.

It will be a good Tool to take to the Junk Yard because it does not need a slide Hammer. But, I think at Home I wolud continue to use the Slide Hammer.

Mercedes used to make an extremely sturdy no Slide Hammer Prechamber puller. But, you need to remove the Valve Cover as it sits on 3 points; 2 are on top of the Head Bolts and the other point is on the flat surface where the Vlave cover would go. The picture is in the FSM.

About 1-2 times a year that Tool comes up on eBay but is expensive.

The KD Tubular Prechamber Tool seems to be made to avoid removing the Valve Cover and I guess to be a cheaper Tool.
But, I think the space would be a little cramped when you use it.
