300SD Original OEM Options

Hey all, happy new year! I was wondering if there are any resources out there that give a detailed list of the options available from the factory for the 1985 300sd? I have searched for 85 300sd sales brochures but cannot find one. I would be curious to see what other options there were and what factory wheels were available. Thanks, Shane

Here is a LINK for W126 resources, fairly complete. Click on accessories and it will show you what was available for each of the W126 Models.

Not much, ABS and airbags were an option as well.

In my 1987 S class brochure it mentions 4 place seating as an option? Buckets? Never saw that.

560SEL?

IIRC I was in a 500SEL with adjustable rear seats that only sat 2 in the rear

ABS was standard in '85. Airbags were an option.

AFAIK ABS was standard in 1986, and optional in 84 and 85.

I saw one 85 SD a few years ago that had an airbag, super rare. People won't pay extra for safety features.

According to the sales literature I have you could get it in any W126. It says "4 place seating". Another option is adjustable rear seats, and seat heaters.

You could also get Velour, kind of surprised you don't see more with it.

Today MB rapes you to death with options, back then they came pretty much loaded from the factory. There were really only a handfull of options.

What about wheel options? My car has chrome "bundt cake" style wheels. Were other wheels available?

No wheel options until AMG came on the scene. These days you get a dozen choices on the new ones. Back in the 80's you had a couple AMG styles, and Ronal's. I like the AMG Aero and Penta's.

MB never chromes wheels, chromed wheels are aftermarket. In Germany they consider them unsafe and they wouldn't pass inspection.

the 4-place seating is what you'd see in the rear of an SEC from that era....

Unless I read the link wrong, the only wheel option was bundts wheels

The 1987 sales literature clearly offers it in all W126 models. They have a couple pages abouteach model, and then a little box where it tells you about the options, there are not many.

Those are custom cars. Paying $700k for a 62 would rock, as they say its good to be king!
