Have you determined what car you have?
In my signature, the SD [126] is on the left (white), the CD [123] is on the right (gold).

The blockout feature that I talk about won't allow you into the forth position but if you can get to the forth position and it still won't try to start then it might be the safety lockout from the shifter position.

You haven't stated if you have figured out whether you have a "D" or "SD" 123 vs 126 chassis.
