1979 240d AT rear output seal BAD questions

I just Purchased a 79 240d and the rear seal on the transmission is bad(blown out) Does anyone know the size of the spindle nut that holds the yolk on? Also Advance does not carry the seal, does anyone know where I can get one?

Are there seals in the drive shaft itself, and what are they for?

Thanks

The seal is available here at fastlane. Click on the button at the top that says "buy parts". If their out you can get it at the dealer.

Now for you rear seal nut. If the tranny has been serviced within the last 10 years is uses a 12 point deep socket, if not then it uses a castle socket.
You will have to look at the nut to determine which socket.
Here is my post on R+R the seal on my daughters 240D.

If its anything like a 77 240d at you will need a mean puller to get the yoke off. If anyone cares its the same spline as a TH350 chevy.
