This is the message I sent
Senator Delvin, Rep Hankins, and Rep Haler. This bill is unfair and in some ways is counter productive. It is biased against diesel vehicles because diesels must have a bigger displacement to deliver the same power as a gasoline engine. A diesel will still deliver better mileage with a bigger engine. It is also unfair to the poor as they cannot afford to buy newer fuel efficient vehicles and usually get stuck with older vehicles with bigger engines. This bill is unfair to me in several ways. I have a classic collectors car that I must keep tabbed to comply with local ordinances. It is only driven about once a year less than 30 miles and would cost me an additional $400 each year. I also have a California emissions vehicle which gets about 10% less mileage and emits 10% more CO2 than a federal emissions model. Mercedes 300SD Federal emissions http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008car1tablef.jsp?column=1&id=338 Mercedes 300SD California emissions http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/2008car1tablef.jsp?column=1&id=339 Although it is supposed to be better for the environment I would be penalized. It is also a diesel and do to the larger displacement engine it would cost me an additional $225 a year. If the desire is to combat global warming by taxing the public then it should be done by a fuel tax. That way the people that burn the most fuel and contribute to global warming the most are the ones that are taxed. It also discourages people from burning fuel. Thank you for your time, Sincerely Conn Clark

Mr. Clark I do not support the legislation. I believe we have "killed" it this session.

Wow, that was fast. I'm glad our legislators are looking out for us.
