I thought I read something about a superior shift kit somewhere on here... now about those pics of your mishap...

and I made a mistake... the 62 was the last year of the C1 lineup... the pics on your site gave it away... I can't believe I messed that one up... I have followed vetts since the 70's... oh well, can't be perfect on everything...

i was thinking C1 was the code but I have been away from the vette for 4 years so I wasnt 100%. I grew up with first gen and mid years so C1,C2 etc was new to me when I started building the 62.

I'm REALLY glad you posted this, I was actually reading the intructions yesterday on my superior spring kit, and it wasn't terribly clear... add to that the fact that the chiltons manual has virtually no auto tranny related info. All I need to do is replace the K2, but it appears in order to do that, the valve body has to come off.

No it doesn't. To replace the K1 and K2 springs, you just need to take the covers off the accumulators. Four screws for each one. Here's a write up on the K1; the K2 is the same, but on the other side of the tranny.

There are other components in the Superior kit that require opening the valve body, but I didn't install those. Here's a good thread on the subject:
Superior Shift Correction kit - anybody tried one?

well I have reverse, 1-2 forward but no shift to 3 or 4. I have a picture of where all the little balls go but it doesnt exactly match my valve body. Does anyone in the North Tampa area have a junk trans I can get a valve body from to compare? Or know a trans shop that can print the valve body check ball diagram, or that could do the valve body for me? Warning to all if you split the valve body, remove the two screws and flip it over before you seperate them.......

from the russian site my tranny is 722315 02 220971
Thanx

Thanx but thats the same diagram I have and it is different than my tranny. Mine does not have one of the valves and the little plastic key hole shaped thing. also the link isnt working for me.

wow, thats harsh! I only had the 3-4 flare, so I decided not to drop the valve body and just did Step #5 (I put the pink spring in the K2) I wanted to do step #2 (replacing the k2 accumulator control valve springs) but theres NFW to get to it w/out dropping the valve body... so we'll try this first.
