No money, no honey

d00d.

My Chinese wife "didn't believe" that I had actually bought a car when I trekked off to get my 300SDL. As far as she was concerned, my dumb ass had taken a bunch of cash and flushed it down the crapper. It took till she was sitting in the car making the window go up and down and complaining about the lack of aircon that she finally "believed". Of course, it's only temporary. The moment I have to spend any more money on the beast full suspension of belief will recommence.

My heart goes out to you.

I gotta clear out my yard so I can snatch deals like this up when they come along... anybody want a boat, or a mercury wagon, or a 78 chevy pickup with no motor, or a 78 olds diesel sedan with a locked up block, or ... man I gotta clear out my yard...

So let me get this straight - you spent $21k on parts over a 14 year period? I'd like to know where you can get a new car that cheaply!

Actually, this is on the 300SDL since 2003. The 240D was another $20K or so over the nine years I had it (but it still runs great for my brother). Again, cheap or expensive is not my reason for wanting to part with it. It's all to do with ensuring my matrimonial harmony.

decisions

The first thing you said was something like "My wife, or my Mercedes" My EX-wife said I had to get rid of her or my motorcycle.. I still have my bike.

I love fixeruppers, but CA is a LONG way from TN, and I might feel bad offering what I can afford.

My heart goes out to you. And if it will bring marital bliss, take it to a cliff, and let her push it off of it. Family, especially the wife, are far more important than a car will ever be. And if she is calling it your mistress it is time for it to go. And taker care of #1 (her)

Not being from CA where is Ladera Ranch? and shoot me a couple of pics. Or better yet post them for all to see. I do not know if my wife will let me get another, but I am thinking about it....

Heh,

No chick would come between me and my passions. She doesn't like it? She can take a hike. See ya later, kid.

But, I suppose in marriage you need to make amends. This is one of the main reasons I've decided to remain a bachelor.

How many women would put up with 3 W126' diesels?

The wife loves older cars. As a matter of fact, she wants to get rid of her '01 Isuzu Trooper and replace with diesel Isuzu Pup or perhaps old diesel Land Rover. She likes the smell of B100 in the morning.

Post some pictures.
How much are you looking to get for it?

I wonder if the car would be up to a 1,800 mile road trip once it was started?
I'll be out in the LA area in two weeks.

Link for Pictures of 300 SDL

I created a small web page with the pictures of the car. Go to

http://www.gbcnet.com/mercedes/300_sdl_pictures/

Since the Sherrif's Department fined me for washing cars in the street (CA Water Quality laws!), I couldn't wash it to make it look really pretty. Sorry for the afternoon sun creeping in. Also, there is stuff for me to clean out, and I figured you guys didn't need to see it, which is why I photographed it the way I did.

The wire dangling out of the glovebox is due to my now aborted project of adding a Boost gauge, Pyrometer, Ammeter, and Voltmeter inside the compartment.

As far as road trips, I don't see any reason it wouldn't make an 1,800 mile trip. Ironically, it was running better than it ever had! My concern is whether the hydrolock would be a factor when starting it again.

Wow I really want that car, to bad I don't have the money laying around to make a deal for you.

But if you get really desperate and want to give it away, give me a call. Shipping from your location would probably run me $900.

I'd get an engine from Hitman, and swap them. Swaping a 603 looks pretty damn simple.

You mean after you replace the head? Right now it would be up for the trip in the back of a truck.

Alright, a certain someone (who knows who he is) sent me this link in a message (he knows me too well I think). I have a trailer, and am within a driveable distance (though barely at today's fuel costs). What kind of price idea are we working with? I know and understand you put money in it and we both know what it's worth as it is. Shoot me a message if your interested. (Wife's probably going to kill me when she finds out of this, lol) She is encouraging of my hobbies, just not my timing, lol. An SDL would be a bit nicer to cruise around in.....
