300d vs 300sd "1985"
whats the difference?
same engine, is the sd just more "sleek"?? no crazy problems with the sd are there?, that the D dosnt have already naturally v

SD is the full size (S class of today), and was much bigger. D is the mid-size (E class today). SD had far more electronics and was more for the luxery minded.

Actually the s class is longer but sleeker and does not weigh much more than a 300dt. It is geared higher so will probably return a bit better economy on the highway.
The s class if the earlier from 81 to 85 is somewhat more electrically equipped so there is a bit more to maintain. Both are nice high quality vehicles. Good luck. Tom W

Tom, I believe the '85 D and SD both have 2.88 gears. Is that correct?

Yes, that is correct. I misspoke. If it gets better economy it will be from superior aerodynamics.

there is 1 for sale close to me, sounds like it would make a good member of the family "sd"
they want $1,000.oo, claimed to run well and no rust! anything special i should look for? must be a reason why its so cheap, unless they are "new"
