Acetone should never be put into your fuel tank. It will eat away at all the rubber/plastic it contacts, especially at the concentration needed to make any measurable impact at cleaning the injectors.

The key is the amount of solvent necessary to clean the injectors. Not only is it bad for the fuel system, it is also bad for the bearings etc. when it gets past the rings, which is why some of these solvent-based cleaners limit the amount you can use per oil change.
Use a detergent-based cleaner, RedLine works IMO.

Some people are adamently opposed to using diesel purge. I myself used it, and found that it helped my engine's performance. Here is a thread that goes into the arguement against DP:
What exactly is a diesel purge?

I think the first time I ever saw a can of LubroMoly was in Freo. I'm a big fan of diesel purges and have plans to do one and an oil change soon. The last one I did showed a large improvement in my worn out engine.

Right on both counts. If its not running perfectly and you suspect the injectors remove them and have them tested.
