Do you know why? I'm very curious.

Will this work on a '92 190d turbodiesel with 5sp manual? My car doesn't have a cruise control.

Should work on just about anything but a Prius. I went with the electric model over the cheaper vacuum-powered one because I wasn't sure if the vacuum one would be strong enough, but apparently MaydayMike has used them with great success.

Cruise control - what about 10-pin module

That was an awesome description about using the Audiovox CCS-100 and connecting to the factory harness. My 1979 300SD has only a 10-pin cruise control module. Pins 1 & 2 are a plastic blank. The pins 3 through 12 are used. Anyone have an idea about connecting the Audiovox through a 10-pin wiring harness?

I found the pins and uploaded the page from the manual.

Quick question. W124 Install Have you tried Pin 11 on the on the Amp Harness is for the Hall Effect Speed Sensor. That would feed the Gray wire (Pin 2) on the after market controller.

I get this part:

red wire - pin 1 on cruise amp plug - this is 12 volt power

brown wire - pin 3 - this one turns the system off when you move the control stalk to the (duh...) off position.

purple wire - pin 8 - this one is 12 volts when you apply the brakes... lots easier to hook up here than tapping into the brake light switch on the pedal!

green wire - pin 2 - this is for set/coast. Hooking it to pin 2 will make set/coast the down position on the control stalk. This made the most sense to me.

yellow wire - pin 4 - this one is for resume/accelerate. This is activated by pushing the stalk up.

Thumbs up 124 install

I installed the Audiovox on my 93 300d today. It's the second unit I've installed on a MB (also on my 85 300CD). I used the connections just as described on this thread, and everything works fine. There sure is more room to get to the old cruise amp on this 124 than on my '85 300cd!

I just used the magnetic pickup on the driveshaft, as there is a bolt on the transm mount that a bracket can easily be used.

I'm not sure about using pin 12, I didn't use it.

Thanks again MaydayMike!

My CCS-100 came in today 10/19/2009. Seems pretty straight forward. I'm awaiting the cruise amp (bad) I ordered to pull the connector off to use to wire up the system. I want to use the stock cruise control controller. Looks like I'll also add a jumper from pin 8 to pin 6.

Where in the hell did you find it? I was looking a few weeks ago and there was few here and there... Now, I'm ready to buy one and I'm not seeing them anymore?

Where did you get yours and how much?

Installed today in 92 300D OM602 124.128 works well.

I tied in at the cruise amp connector (see post 1) and removed the actuator on the engine Mounted cable mount in its place.

These are the pins for the cruise amp connector. (see post 1)
Pin 1 - Red wire +12 V
Pin 3 - Brown
Pin 8/6 - Purple (Jump together pin 8 and 6)
Pin 2 - Green
Pin 4 - Yellow
Pin 11 - Grey VSS (two wires together, Only use the GREY)

NOTE: You do not use the Blue-Tach wire.

VSS is 8000 PPM

Switch Settings on Servo Assembly
SW1, SW2 = On (8000 PPM)
SW3 = On (VSS)
SW4, SW5 = OFF (Sensitivity)
SW6 = OFF
SW7 = ON

I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. See post 1 for the connector. That's what I used. ADDED PIN 11 for the VSS. Set for 8,000 PPM.

An Update on this cruise control unit. I've got about 200 miles on the cruise control unit.

It does operate a bit differently than the stock unit. The way its wired into the stock (Mercedes) switch. Up and Down are still the positions to set the speed and Resume is Up or Down with the stalk, but when you pull the control arm towards you it's like tapping the brake, it disengages the cruise control unit (that's the biggest change). Off is still in the same position.

Acceleration is a bit slower using this cruise control unit, but you can step on the go pedal and reset the control unit. It does hold the speed well. I had surging on declines that is why I replaced my unit. Tried adjusting control arm length. Replacement amp ($150 or control motor ($250) were more expensive. It holds speed well on hills (the few and not very steep ones we have in Central Florida).

Overall I'm happy with this unit. The whole unit was cheaper then fixing the amp or control motor.

Time to Rez this thread with new info. I went looking for the Css-100 tonight and it seems to be discontinued/superceded with a newer model.

Still the same seller "audiovideo4me" on ebay and amazon.

Two large improvements noted. First, no more vacuum pull throttle cables. All electric now. Second, there is better VSS capability. This should help our vehicles because the old unit had a threshold of 8000 ppm which was exactly the output of 126/124 VSS.

Going to order one this week or next. Will report back with findings.

Yea... Those are long gone. They were long gone when I started looking last summer. The last ones were going for more than the electronic version!!

This may or may not help you. I gave up on the factory crap after I found out what it would cost to fix and maintain it.

This system is simple and it works fabulous. I was driving this particular car 1000 miles per week at the time. Since then I have bought another car to "help take up the slack". But, this cruise system has over 20,000 miles on it since last October and it works like the day I put it in.... Flawlessly....
