Sounds like your blower motor is failing.

Is this a common problem? How do I prevent damage or repair?
Thank You! ![]() |

Yep, you can remove the motor and spray some oil on the shaft to try and buy yourself some time. I did and gained like 6 months. Or just replace it, they are not to expensive I think I got a new one for like $110.

Is it possible something is brushing up against or lodged in the motor underneath the dash? The mechanic said it's possible, since he didn't really know what he was doing I guess. So is it worth taking the dash off to see or is it more than likely a failing motor?
What's the worst that can happen from the blower motor failing while driving??? Thanks again for all replys! ![]() |

It is easy to check the aspirator motor. Just remove the glove box. It is on the passenger side in plain view. But, I doubt that it's the problem, however, it is easy to rule out the aspirator motor.
Just remove the 7(?) pop in clips along with their holder and slide the box out. Should take maybe a minute. Watch your fingers around the aspirator motor. The fan blades are exposed. (Don't ask me how I know this..... ![]()

Other than being uncomfortable, the worst is that the high current from the blower motor can cause the demise of the CCU.

I forget the exact procedure since its been awhile but they are simple to get at. You need to remove the glove box and kick panal under it.
Sand and dirt gets into the motor and after 20 years ruins it, thats why the newer cars have cabin air filters. Like I said before you can try to clean and lube it up, that will buy you a little time. Its just for your climate control, if it fails you won't get air into the cabin. Open your windows I guess if you don't want to fix it.

I decided after random loud growling and screaming, that I should unplug the blower motor inside the black box under the kick panel. All I did was remove the power wire and electrical taped it. The CCU still engages and I can hear the hissing before you usually get air in the cabin. While driving afterward I thought I smelled something burning, then it went away, and did it again later that day someone else pointed out. I don't know if somethings burning out or drawing too much current. Is there anything else I should unplug (compressor, hoses,...)if I messed with the Blower Motor regulator?
Thanks! ![]() ![]()
