Did the W116 handles fit on your W123? I'll go back and get a set if they will fit. They certainly looked the same. They were mounted with hex screws and I didn't have the right tool. I was there for 1/2 price day.

Memorial Weekend Saturday and Sunday has been the only time the Dallas GP has had a half price day for the last several months. Fort Worth is every Wed. I'll go back for the 116 handles. To remove, I remove the door panel and loosen the front screw. Remove the two rear screws, slide to the front and lift out. How do I disconnect the mechanism?

Somebody told me that they thought FW doesn't do half price Wednesdays anymore. Anybody know for sure either way?
The PNP website doesn't show that they do........

Isn't much of nuthin at the Dallas PNP. There were a couple 190's and W124 with decent seats, though.....

I haven`t tried to mount it yet, maybe I better do it this afternoon. I will let you know.

I found this one on the back seat already removed. I pulled the L/R door panel off removed the screws in the door edge, but the screw on the other end I didn`t see how to access it through the door from the inside.

Iam bringing my maketa electric drill next time and put a hole in line to the screw.

The camera I use is a Fujifilm Finepix A610 6.3 pix 3x zoom

I hadn't heard that about FW PNP but it makes sense that the two would do the same as they are only about 30 miles apart. There was a grey 123 gasser euro that has only been there a few weeks. Someone beat me to the headlights and bumpers. They overlooked the safety triangle in the trunk. I don't really need it but took it anyway. I picked up a complete set of polished aluminum trim for the drip rails and windows. I'm repainting my 123 and plan to have one set powdercoated in black and black out the window frames. That's the more modern look and I'm frustrated with the cloudy trim that's hard to polish.

yes, yes it is. I went back a week later when they put it in the yard. I wanted to see about grabbing the battery pack and all hybrid related items.. but... The front end was involved in a massive fire and they removed the battery pack and sent it off the be recycled... shame... I didn't even knick the emblems off it since I didn't know how to remove them...

I really wanted all that hybrid stuff.

Yesterday I took the L/R door apart to see if the 116 handle would fit. looks like they would. NO they do not.
for one the 123 has one screw that holds it into the door edge. the 116 two. the part that fits into the door to release the latch sits deeper and closer to the latch.
placing both handles upside down side by side, the 116 is taller, on the out side they look almost he same.

I doubt the locks could be installed in the 123 because of door design. but haven`t tried it.

chrome looks soooo much better.

Saved me a trip to P-N-P

Charlie,
Thanks, I was planning to go get the handles tomorrow. Now I'll stay home and work on my AC. Hot and humid here - setting records!
I agree, the chrome would look better but I was also concerned how it would feel in the hot Texas sun. I've never noticed my 123 handle (black platic part) feeling hot but I had an old Chevy with chrome handles that were sometimes too hot to pull on without the aid of a cloth, etc.

Chas:

Did you see the late '70s euro W123 sedan at Wallisville? It's light green with a tan cloth interior. I was there about a week ago to get an instrument cluster and some other small items. The euro front bumper was gone but the back was still there - could use a little straightening but nothing too bad. What other euros did you see? The selection was weaker than usual, only about 3 W123s and the other two were picked over pretty good. They also had a '69 MB with a set bundts, of which 3 were in excellent condition, one had a little damage to it at the edge.

Where is this Northville boneyard of which you speak?

thanks,

Some times you gota bite the bullet and endure the pain, Chrome is King..
The quality of the 116 handles is much nicer than the 123 handles, the 116 are all metal where the 123 are a lot of plastic and weigh about 1/3.

Post# 18 H-TOWNBENZOBOY said "they will fit" he must know something I don`t .

I didn`t get the handle in, but I did get the R/R window switch to work and replaced the door panel with a PNP one with all the clips. I had 3 broken clips. have to see if MB has new ones.

Charlie ☺
