Update your 124 & 201's trunk light switch
One of the nice things about my wife's 1996 E300D (W210) is that the trunk light can be turned off when the trunk is open by simply pulling out on the plunger of the trunk light switch. That is convenient if you want to leave the trunk open for a long time without draining the battery or wish to conduct criminal activity without attracting attention.
![]() I discovered that my 1987 300D (W124) uses an older version of the same switch without the pop-out feature. Changing the switch is easy -- compress the plastic clips and pull out the old switch, then swap the two wire leads (polarity doesn't matter) and insert the new switch. You may need to loosen the clips that hold the wires to the trunk lid to get some slack. I don't know what other models this switch may fit. The part number suggests that it also fits the 190 models (W201). It won't work in my 1985 300D (W123) because the trunk light and switch are one single assembly. Jeremy
