Nice ... you have 313k to catch up to my wagon. I wish I had been the one to put all those miles on her.

I've driven it 165 miles so far. Today the AC was marginal when it was 100f. I need to add some more refridgerant and sort out the center vents and blower. I'm also not getting hi speed fan unless it's in defrost mode.

There's a very annoying rattle/buzz in the shifter at 65-70mph that's got to go. Need to sort out the cruise control also.

I drove it to Lowes today to pick up some cedar fence pickets only to find they were sold out. Same story at Home Depot so, she didn't get to do any work just yet. Too dang hot to be working on the fence anyway.

Welcome to the club!

I like black. The 100/0 rear seat is neat, I never knew they came like that...look forward to more pictures as you get 'er some polish.

Though I finally got back to wanting to work on my 300TD again, reading and watching this thread spurs me on even more. Nice find. Excellent progress.

I wish it had the split seats. It would be nice to put a car seat on one side and fold down the other.

She's polished up about as good as it's gonna get. Many of the scuffs and scratches in the paint didn't buff or color sand out using 2000 grit.
The left rear door bottom needs serious attention. There's rust only at the bottom where there's a small hole in the skin and the rubber seal channel is pretty much gone. I'm wondering if we can cut the lower section from a W123 sedan door and weld it in. I need to check the condition of the parts car door that I got from Jimmy.
Other than that spot there's very little rust at all.

195.8 miles logged on 9.06 gallons for 21.6 mpg or around 23.7 mpg if I factor in the speedometer error. It reads roughly 10% slow compared to the GPS.

Kinda sucks for only having 80hp.

Man you guys have some nice "cheap" wagons.
I had a very honest listing for my silver smoking wagon a couple years ago and the guy still paid a bit over $1600 bucks. I thought I got out pretty lucky on that one, but frontend and interior were really good. Makes me wonder what ever happened to it....
Clack, your wagon looks nice. Do I see rear seat headrests? That means 3rd row seat.....
It is wild for a Texas guy to see palm trees and a cactus tree in the same yard. Very cool area you are in.

What a deal!

I've been looking at wagons (TDs) for at least two years now. Heck, what I paid for this one I can afford to find another one. Always wanted an '85.

The '80 TD hauled some cedar fence pickets today. Acually, pickets, a roll of insulation, tools, diaper bag, a loaded car seat and we still had room.

What are these cross bars I see mentioned? Any pics? I'm hesitant to put much weight on the roof. This wagon only has the two bars on the roof. No runners in the center.

Wagon Club

If I drive a wagon for a day, can I become a "honorary member" of the club?

Danno,
If you need to improve the economy, I bet that even a n/a engine could benefit from a lower numeric differential...Jeeze, what is in there anyway, a 3.69?

I have a 3.07 that has a little whine if you want it...

3.07 Naught to sixty is bad enough with the "75" series tires currently installed. No problems cruising at 75mph with the rear end ratio it has now. It may not have enough torque to do it with a taller rear end.

I figure the next tankfull will do a little better. There's been lots of idling done on this first tank of fuel with all the AC work...

My Saguaro cactus is 450/500 years old! Yep, it has the 3rd row seat and the SLS suspension package! All the goodies! She's gonna get new paint and painted rims, refinished wood trim, Genuine MB floor mats and a nice stereo and a car phone!
