Volvo makes a great diesel, but parts are very expensive.
What would the Mercedes of the boating world be? if I ever hit the lottery...

That definitely would not be a fun job, how do you repair the fiberglass after you replaced the tank? and do I dare ask why a fuel tank had to come out? (Algae maybe?)

volvo prop, so my guess is volvo looks really tight in there.
I figure I can swap over the intake/wp onto any small block... or build something else for the swap to a v6. I have about 10 engines on stands in the shop now, so my options are pretty open.

Its probably a Volvo 270 or 280 drive. What year mid 80's?

Well considering the cost (free) just swap what you have to over and cross your fingers. But marine engines are really different, you might be able to get away with a car long block since the boat is light. You want to use as much of the currant engine in that boat as possible, check the cam it might be different.

Is this a lake boat? If so you might be able to get away without changing the manifolds and risers, if its used in salt plan on them.

that's the thing... I have plenty of free motors, just no idea what I wanna put back in... it's always been a lake boat, so salt is no issue. I know nothing about the boat other than it's length... and it's yellow... I got it free as back payment due... no carb on it, and the dock owner said it had recently overheated... probably needs a water pump.
oh well, back to Diesel discussion...

Carvers and Silvertons, I hate them both. The Bayliners of the cruising world IMO. Unfortunately, my Father-in-law has a Carver, Brother-in-law has a Silverton, ... I can't say too much.

A neighbor at the marina has that Cabo Express, with twin 720hp Cat C-14s it gets it.

On the other hand, I spent most of the day in the engine room of my friend's 53 Hatt, I'm pretty tired of seeing that thing also.

Well, since you guys brought it up & Hatteras is an excellent name in boats, I have a 1969 Hatteras 38 Double Cabin (actually it's a triple cabin) with two 8V53N's in it for sale.

Boat is is good condition, but - as is with all boats - it needs a little TLC. Got lots of electronics, too.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but need the cash..........

Is there marine stuff for the Cummins 4B? I'd sure consider one in my 26' Sea Ray cuddy in place of the sbc. I think I can get one from an old chevy bread truck.
