Gas boats are damn near worthless these days! Volvo makes a great diesel, but parts are very expensive.

That definitely would not be a fun job, how do you repair the fiberglass after you replaced the tank? and do I dare ask why a fuel tank had to come out? (Algae maybe?)

No the fuel tank's (2) had to come out twice because they are built cheap, and they didn't secure the tank. So they just slid around, wore a hole in the bottom, and dumped 120 gallons of gas into the bilge.
![]() ![]() The way you get the tanks out on that particular Silverton (32is feet) is you cut a hole in the side and pick them up with a fork lift. Than you glass the side of the boat back on. Yes its a big job. Re glassing it isn't that hard, just messy and time consuming. Their are many very well built powerboat's out their. The old Bertrams, Hatt's, and Chris Crafts are wonderfull boats. http://www.whiticar.com/pictlink.html Cabo 45 ![]() ![]() It all boils down to cost. A Cabo 45 will cost 4 times, what that Carver goes for. A Whiticar or Rybo 5-6++ times more. But with boats you get what you pay for. I have worked on enough of them to curse crappy work. A lot of people don't really know enough to be able to spot the difference, in say how a cleat is mounted. But it matters, doing it right may cost them $100, but they can do it cheap for $10 and 95% of the people can't tell the difference.

http://www.rybovich.com/Welcome.aspx I worked/drove a 47. I miss that boat, it was like working on a Rolls Royce, so nice! After that going on a mortal boat was just like pfff junk. ![]() ![]() There are a lot of very nice custom and semi custom sportfish build on the east coast. If you don't fish and want a cruiser, a Grandbanks, or Eastbay is the best boat you can get. A Grandbanks cost far, far more than say what a big Bayliner would cost, but its in a whole other league. Its like comparing a Chevy to a Maybach. ![]()
