Differential side seal removal HELP

I scrounged a 2.65 rear end out of a junkyard gray-market W116450SE to put in my W116 300SD to lower my highway RPMs. Now for my problem, the Diff. needs new side seals and for the life of me I can't get the Lateral Bearing cap off. I have tried everything I can thing of to get it off. I've pried and banged and even yelled and it won't come loose. I have the shop manuals and all the say is to remove the cap. The compensating washer did move out of alignment so now the bolts can't even go back.
Anyone done this job?? Any tricks??
Thanks in advance.
