Differential side seal removal HELP

I scrounged a 2.65 rear end out of a junkyard gray-market W116450SE to put in my W116 300SD to lower my highway RPMs. Now for my problem, the Diff. needs new side seals and for the life of me I can't get the Lateral Bearing cap off. I have tried everything I can thing of to get it off. I've pried and banged and even yelled and it won't come loose. I have the shop manuals and all the say is to remove the cap. The compensating washer did move out of alignment so now the bolts can't even go back.
Anyone done this job?? Any tricks??
Thanks in advance.

You need leverage.

Best way to do it is to install the differential in the car and then use this tool to remove it.

You can get it from Harbor Freight

Its just a lip seal, the bearing cap does not need to come off.

Thanks for the fast replays. I believe the W116 Diff. is different than the 123 or 126. I have included a pic. of my factory manual so you can better see what I'm faced with.. The "cap" is held in place with 8 13mm bolts.
I case I'm going down the wrong path (as I have so many times before) I did as DeliveryValve suggested and used my "rolling head" pry bar. All I did was get a a slight tear on the rubber and pull out the sealing ring. On the bright side I got to use my old craftsman pry bar, for the first time, as it was intended .
Pleas keep the suggestions coming.

try putting 2 bolts back in the cap (ones that fit and will not be used to install) and put some torque on that thing to break it free.

Then go back to prying away from the diff.

Wow! What a great idea. Thanks. I'll give that a try. Unfortunately I don't have a bolt that size, so I have to wait till Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes.

actually.. look at the pic. Do you think it will spin?

are those grooves in the top acting as keys? i doubt it since the are not machined, but maybe some reservation should be exercised
