vacuum transducer source, leaky inj pump gasket

I own a 1990 300d with 2.5 turbo engine. Questions:
1. Are the three vacuum transducers (EGR, pressure control flap, and wastegate) the same MB part#?
2. Does anyone have a non-MB dealer source for these VT's?
3. I have replaced the rectangular gasket on the side of the injection pump twice now, and it still seeps fuel. I was told by the dealer NOT to use any type of gasket sealant on this gasket, and did not. The result is a twice leaking gasket. I was careful to align and tighten properly, but still it leaks. Suggestions?
4. Is it true the old MB diesels are fated to seep fuel due to the new low sulfur formulation?
Thanks a million, Vespucci

Jerk all that crap out!

All three of those Electro-Vacuum demons are separate part numbers (And
different). And are they not sooooo inexpensive?

With the GSXR Pressure Operated Wastegate Actuator:

Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962?

AND one of BC's EGR blocking Plate KITs:

EGR blocking plate kit

You can remove all that Excrement along with the EGR and Flapper Valve...
And be a slave to the whims of the EDS NO MORE!

On the leaky IP gasket
(I hate to say it but the dealer is correct...NO SEALANT!!!)

GO Here: http://www.boschservice.com/Overview/
And find your local Bosch Service center
(They'll be able to walk you through it, maybe on the phone.)

No they are not doomed to leak...And YES you MAY have to replace all
the Rubber in the fuel system with Viton (Idiots at the Oil Companies
screwed up the fact that ULSD is legally supposed to be BACKWARDS
compliant as far as Lubricity AND seals.)['Run down the street and kick
your congressperson in the Ass for allowing this circumstance.] Oil
Companies save money by not putting required additives in the Diesel,
Congresspersons get large "Campaign Donations" from the Oil Companies.
You and I get screwed!

on closer inspection

1.After thoroughly cleaning the tops of the EGR/pressure control flap vacuum transducers I was able to discern the MB part #'s - which on my model are apparently the same "000-545-03-27" with a VAC and OUT port on top and an ATM port at the bottom. The wastegate transducer does not have a part # on the top, but the ports are definitely different (vac, out, atm on top and another atm port on the bottom).
I would still like to know if anyone is aware of a source to purchase these items if I end up needing them. Any sources?
2. The mods as suggested in the earlier reply are certainly an option, but not what I am desiring to do with the car.
3. Any other suggestions on the leaking injector pump side plate gasket?
Thanks, vespucci

I owned one 10 years ago and am hazy. The two tranducers under teh air box are Y31/2 IIRC. Dealers got them or can get them as can Phil here on this site. Dont rememebr concerning the 3rd one.

The leaky gasket is due to age and/or the different chemicals used in ULSD vs LSD. Once changed and sealed up tight, those issues should not retrun until we reformulate to "super duper" ULSD.

Y31/1 (EGR Vacuum transducer) and Y31/5 (waste gate vacuum transducer) is the same MB # 000 545 0327 on the 1991.5 and later

As Terry said Phil can help you out with both numbers and parts.

Are you sure it's leaking from the gasget you replaced? Could it be comming from the top?

Looking at a 1990 layout vacuum transducers Y31/1 = EGR Valve, Y31/2=Intake manifold ai pressure control
Y31/3= Wastegate

Is it leaking engine oil or fuel? If it's leaking engine oil, it could be from the shut-off lever shaft (easy to replace o-ring) or the control rod sensor connector (IP has to come apart). Could also be the bottom cover gasket that's leaking. Typically when one gasket leaks they'll soon all leak. I don't know how this can be related to fuel quality, though.

If it's leaking fuel, it's not coming from the gasket. Most likely worn delivery valve o-rings or deformed injector line flares.

updated info and pics of injection pump side plate leak

Ok. A quick update. 1990 300D with 2.5 turbo. 602.962. Vacuum leaks and leaking from injection pump side plate.
1. The vac leaks turned out to be a cracked vacuum amplifier and two bad hoses (one from EGR to transducer and one from wastegate transducer to wastegate valve controller).
2. EGR, wastegate valve, and vacuum control flap all operational with Mity-Vac and seem to operate as designed with r/r of above defective items.
3. 0-60 time of appxly 12 seconds now, and starts, idles and shifts like a champ.
4. Please see the attached photos of the leaks on the side of the injection pump. I did, carefully, replace the gasket. It leaks as much now as before the new gasket. Used no sealant. Gasket was exact size of the old one and was from local MB dealership, so part#'s seemingly matched. I circled in red the leaking areas, and on one photo drew an arrow to a barrel shaped part extruding from the end of the IP. Is this where the internal shaft terminates as it moves back and forth? I noticed oil or fuel (?) would deposit quickly on the shaft where it enters the barrel shaped part as I moved it when the side plate was off. The car accelerates quickly, no apparent additional exhaust noticeable or change in exhaust color. But a definite increase in diesel fuel smell as you walk up to the car and the obvious seepage noticeable in the photos. Any suggestions on possible problems any repairs appreciated. I truly hope the seeping is a "replace gaskets" job, whether I tackle it or have it done. Thanks again, vespucci

Shooteth not the Messenger

It sure looks like the engine oil leak is coming from the Rear,Port side of the I.P.
side gasket.'Could the side plate have gotten ever so slightly "Warped" ?
What torque figure are you using on the screws/bolts ?

You will, Please come up with something other than the I.P. Driveshaft seal
leaking on the other.'Say above and to the Starboard, Forward of the I.P. ?

I do not think that some careful application of a gasket sealer on the cover would hurt in this area. There are no oil passages to be blocked or high pressure oil to allow any of the gasket sealant to move anyplace else. There is a "Old School" product called Gasket Cinch which kind of a high temp rubber/contact cement. Apply it to both sides of what you want to seal (you can use several applications if you let it dry tacky between applications); let it dry and stick it together. Because it is thin and is already dry before assembly it is not likely to block passages or migrate somewhere else.

I am also wondering if the taped holes for the screws go all the way through to the inside of the IP and the threaded ends are exposed to the oil. Meaning that the oil is seeping from the inside of the IP between the screw threads to the outside of the IP. If this is what is happening; clean the oil out of the threads and apply some Loctite to the screw threads or some other thread sealant and see if it solves the problem.
