I replaced all fuel lines and removed, pressure washed and flushed my tank and cleaned the tank strainer and fuel sending unit before running any BD and thus far have had no gunk at all flowing into the primary with B100 for the past 600 miles.
I have 47k use of BD in my TDI with zero problems all on homebrew BD.
BD is why I now am a 3 diesel household with more to come.

The shop says that biodiesel and WVO ruins cars and that Bosch will not rebuild the injectors if it has been run. Also, "it smells worse than dino diesel" and "it's bad for the environment because it leaves carbon and it causes more pollution to make than it's worth, it makes the price of food go up, it causes people to lose jobs, global warming is a hoax, homemade biodiesel is dangerous and you are putting your neighbors' lives in danger when you make it, and people are only doing it to boost their egos and so they can feel good about themselves, that's all it is--to give them a warm fuzzy feeling inside that is actually causing more harm to the earth than if they just kept using dino diesel".

I got the run down when I mentioned biodiesel. I take a lot of crap about it by people who are trying to make me feel guilty for trying to make a difference in the world. But why would anyone want to try? If you are perfect in this world they will put you on a cross.

Not sure I disagree with their points in reference to BIO. WVO however is a waste oil, either gets dumped or picked up and turned into BIO or barge oil for ocean liners, Barge Oil burns a whole lot dirtier in and ocean liner than WVO in yiour car. Never heard of Bosch not rebuilding iinjectors, possible but I clean and set my own and there are a lot of MB injectors at Pull a part for a few bucks each. Anybody who owns an old MB diesel is should either be rich or do their own work. If your rich, burn reg diesel!

The BioD I use is professionally manufactured from WVO by a local businessman who buys the WVO from local businesses.

Local restaurants buy the oil, then make a profit from the food they fry it in, then reclaim some of the original cost of the oil by reselling it, then the local brewer makes a profit off of his refined product. So after the initial cost to the restaurant (which is partially offset by reselling the oil), all the $$ stay right here in my community.

Smell is an objective thing.Biodiesel is carbon neutral or much closer than dino.

it makes the price of food go up,
Dino diesel at 4.50 a gallon
is what made food prices go up.

it causes people to lose jobs
this is too hilarious to even respond to.

Me thinks there are similar political motivations at my shop. They don't directly say it, but the 2 times I've mentioned biodiesel, they clam up and take an angry tone. And I hear you about the guilt... honestly, there is no perfect solution for anything, but if you want to make a difference, you HAVE to start somewhere. People that say "well, it just is what it is!" and don't do a damn thing are the ones that are a part of the problem.

A lot of the arguements people make against biodiesel are the arguements made against ethanol. And those arguements don't work against biodiesel. Right now it takes more engery to produce ethanol than you get out of it. That is not the case with biodiesel.
