Turbo pressure gauge

Just got back from a first road trip in the "new" 1984 300D, Maine-Michigan-Maine, averaged 25-30 mpg pretty heavily loaded with a Thule box on the roof.
This is my first experience with a MB diesel with turbo, and it does lag, surge, and jump up with its big wet paws at inopportune moments.
I'm curious to know if anyone has advice on installing a boost gauge, and what's the best brand and best location for mounting.
Thanks

They are all more or less the same, you will want one that reads to atleast 15psi to 30psi. More than 30psi and you lose resolution. I have mine mounted under the roof on the window, others do the a pillar mount. The biggest problem with my setup is that I am currently using velcro which looses its adhesiveness in the sun.

Where/how did you route the cables and lines and so forth that connect to the back of the gauges? Would the same solution adapt to a w126?

I have a spare VDO boost gauge from a panel for a Volvo-Penta marine diesel, but it goes up to 32 psi, and the 5-10 psi range is quite small. My guess is that this engine doesn't boost over 18? Where is the wastegate set? Is it adjustable?
Anyway...
a) Any recommendations on brand, and where to buy?
b) Does anyone make a digital-display gauge?
c) How does mounting the gauge in the ashtray work?
d) Does somebody make a mounting bezel that will work on the windshield pillar?
Years ago, when working with my father around airplanes, he would always tell me that I was way too enthusiastic with the boost-pressure control (These were old Pratt & Whitney radials with variable-pressure vane type superchargers, as opposed to Roots blowers). Anyway, he used to say that I should view the boost gauge as a "gallons per hour" gauge, or as a reverse "hours between overhaul" gauge.
