I find my W126 very very easy to parallel park.

I've been known to push cars out of the way that left not enough room in a parallel space. Now is that bad or what. Nice big bumpers + diesel torque!

Good one... I wish I was taking the test in a W126... sadly I'll be taking it in moms Nissan Sentra... stick shift... I don't mind the stick shift... actually prefer it... and I think if I tried to push the other car out of the way it'd mess up the test anyway...

There was this shopping cart at the local supermarket last spring that's kinda bent from a meeting of a 126 front bumper and the curb....

The 126 turns on a dime. It can pull a u-turn in the space of cars half it's size.....

I learned to parallel park on a Passat station wagon on the streets of Paris. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, but every car is different. Try to use the one you are most comfortable with.

My first car was a Nissan 200SX and I pretty much learned driving as a Pizza Hut driver. Car lasted 50k before the engine went and the transmission went. At one point I had to park always down hill because R was gone and the starter was shot.

First car, I highly recommend conditioning yourself to always look 500-1000ft in front of you and learn to "absorb" everything between.

Well, my driving test is this afternoon... We 'purchased' the car... but I can't pick it up until after I get my license... so yeah... I really really like it.. I got it for $2650 without a stereo... I found a nice one for like $160 I think... so I'm not too worried about that... the main thing is getting my license this evening...

When you do the park on a hill part of the test don't forget to put the car in gear when you are done (even though it's a stick)...they docked me on that when I did my test.

I'll have to remember that.... Although, I never take it out of gear when I'm parking it... well... besides putting it in first ... I am a little worried about the car(mom's car) though... But that's another topic... Since it's not an MB, I won't talk about it much here I'll be heading out for my driving test soonish I think... so hopefully I pass it... (Well, leaving in another 40 minutes)

You will pass don't get nervious.

Parking a MB you will find is probably easyer than the Sentra. They turn on a dime, have excellent sight lines, and are not to wide. Really good cars for new drivers. Once you get used to it, you will be able to stick that SD anywhere that Sentra can fit.

Remember they are made for Europe, and Europe has a lot of very narrow small roads.

IMHO a 300SD is a good first car. Not fast enough to get you in trouble. They handle excellent, and have way more brakes than you need. So if you do screw up, you have a good chance of saving yourself. I recomend when it snows a bit heading to a big empty parking lot and practicing some drifting, and stopping.

Not a good idea, unless you have permission by the parking lot owner and there's no light poles within reach.

A wreckless driving ticket early on will really help your insurance rates.

Bah I always do it down the old high school. Don't get caught.

Practice while you can't hit anything, so when that lamp pole is coming at you can avoid it.

In the rural parts of GA, you don't even have to parallel park. How lame.

I took out one of my amber corners on the SL parallel parking many years ago.
