Coverlay dash cover before & after photos - 190D W201

I've had it installed for over 4 years now; some of the glue has finally broken free on it and it needs re-gluing. As an earlier post mentioned, it tends to want to warp in the heat, which is probably what caused it to come loose. I am somewhat afraid to remove it and try regluing it because it might be warped enough to need replacement.

However, in spite of that, I still think it's a good product and I would recommend it. When the one I have finally is not usable anymore, I'll buy another - $80 for 4.5 years of non-ugly dash isn't so bad. Unless you know what to look for, you can't tell that a cover is installed (on the 190D model, anyway).

I tried a Coverlay in my W124 car; the fit was very poor so I returned it. I now have a replacement dash from Pick and Pull, ready to install as soon as I have time. It's black instead of blue but at least it's uncracked. If I could find a replacement W123 dash, I'd replace that one too (either blue or black would be fine, please).

Regardless of whether the dash has cracked (or is going to some day), I like having a (fabric) pad on the dash – it provides a soft, non-slippery surface for occasionally resting things. Personal preference, as someone said in an earlier post to this thread.

Personally I feel that the black top half and blue bottom half looks much classier and more German than all blue, I'd go with it.

I've only had my coverlay for a couple of months, so I can't comment on longevity, but I followed their installation instructions to a T and the fit was very good. The color and texture aren't a perfect match, but it is pretty darned good - better even than what it looks in these pictures...

Bottom line, for $100 and about an hour worth of work, I'm quite happy with it...
