Okay I definitely have more to learn, I know this sounds dumb, but how do you flush the brake fluid?

Use the search function. Basically you bleed the brakes and clutch with a few liters of brake fluid until all you see is nice clean brake fluid at all the bleeders. The clutch is a pita to bleed.

You can get a Motive pressure bleeder for around $45 http://www.amazon.com/Motive-0100-European-Power-Bleeder/dp/B0002KM5L0/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1224210994&sr=8-2 and make the job an easy one person job. I use Redline MTL in the transmission. If you've got an older transmission with worn synchros it can be a huge help over standard ATF.

master cylinder
hello next paycheck I am going to change the manual transmission oil, but I do have a question since I fixed the leaking hose I have retured to normal which is this, it grinds just a bit when I move the stick into third and fourth gear, and it still makes a whining sound sometimes when I go downshifting into first with the clutch out, from the different responses that I got one guy thought I still might have a problem with the master cylinder. how do I check this because if he is right its either the billows or the master cylinder. How do I check this?

You likely still have air in your clutch hydraulic system, which needs to be bled out from the bottom up, you need to do a search about clutch bleeding. If you are grinding gears it would be good to fix the problem before the tranny is damaged.

You shift with the clutch out?
- Peter. What I mean is this, when I'm almost to the stoplight, I brake to a stop, after putting pushing the clutch in, then shift into first so I don't forget at take off and stall the thing, (not a happy experience) and I hear a whining sound sometimes when I'm doing that. One question when I do change the fluid, and make sure there is no air in the lines, if that doesn't stop how extensive is it to put new sychos (whatever they are) on? |
