Locking system still failing

I have a 83 300SD TurboDiesel and the entire locking systems has stopped working. Normally if you turned the key on the driver side door, all the locks woud unlock. Now everything remains locked. I can unlock and lock all four doors manually by just pushing the door buttons, but I cannot get the truck to unlock. I know the locking system is a vaccumm system, how can I go on trying to find the leak or what is causing this? I think the vaccumm pump is in the truck, but how can I get to it? One of my tail lights went out and I need to get the truck open to replace it ASAP.

Can't you use the key to open the trunk? The vacuum pump should be on the passenger side corner towards the tail ligt. It's probably covered in a foam housing. Unplug the connecter to the pump and check that it is getting voltage when you lock/unlock the driver door. There are 3 pins connected to 3 wires (brown, blue, and yellow). Brown is ground and the other two are for the lock/unlock circuit. I can't remember which is which. If no voltage, the switch in the driver door might need replacement. Else, you have a leak. Good luck.

The key that opens the doors doesn't work for the trunk. It only goes in about half way and it wont turn. I have an 83 300SD Turbodiesel, 126 chasis. It's probably different. Any other suggestions?

there is a tread that I replied to about 2-3 weeks ago has a detail trouble shoot and how to get the rest of the locks released. I haven't heard anything whether he got it fixed or not. It seems to me some people are not really willing to share their experience or tricks. Anyway, I hope it's not the trunk lock failure.

good luck!
