It should fit. There is a removable black plastic piece that fits behind the "glass" in the bottom-middle of the W123 cluster that the display would probably fit in.

I should retro-fit the display into my SD

I just want to put the display from the 126 into my 123 cluster. Where is the sensor, and does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows the temp display and it's associated wiring that I would need?

I'd like to add the temp gauge to my 83. The Sensor, according to the ebay listing, is behind the front license plate. So my question is, what is the best power line to splice into to give the gauge power?

The "best" place is probably on the guage cluster itself. Second best would be going to the fuse box and use the instrument fuse. It's as simple as putting a terminal end on the wire and connecting on the back side. (Disconnect the battery first.)

There is a chance that you could install a temp gauge display from a W124 or W126 into a W123 cluster. The W123 has a "hole" in the "right" place for the display; it was designed for the "PRNDL" display for a column automatic (I don't know if such a vehicle was ever made). In our cars is it empty.

As has been said previously, the W126 complete cluster would take a lot of work to adapt to a W123.
