Was the ML driver racing you? I imagine if they had planted the pedal you'd have been toast.
He musta been racing himself.

That was the last 7.3. Everything since then has been far less preferable, for the most part. I've always sort of liked them, myself (the 7.3s i mean)

I think the cummins (and even the duramax) are more pleasant sounding....and the exhaust from a powerstroke smells so icky too, why is that?

Mine isn't that smoky, the ULSD probably has something to do with that.

I'm sticking with my its all relative statement. In the 70's and 80's there were a lot of muscle cars on the road. Which car is slow now, our cars or V-8 350 or 351? So lets put two cars idling next to each other, Our 617 cars and a Honda Accord? Sometimes the new cars are so quiet its hard to tell that they are running.

The first and second generation Cummins are loud but aren't the newer engines quieter? The Duramax is quiet.

The speed and sound fit this 45 year old just fine. Its fast enough and quiet enough for me.

I had a girlfriend who purchased a brand new grand am with the quad 4 back in 1988 and that was a nice engine. The rest of the car was a POS considering it was new, but the engine was sweet.

The old 12V Cummins were definitely loud. My 6.0 PSD is loud because of all of the Banks stuff on it. It's not slow. I like the sound, tons of turbo whine. My Dad's 05 Cummins has a nasty exhaust smell, sort of like propane or something.. makes me ill. All in all though, I'll take a diesel over a gasser for my normal things.

Nice article.

Yeah they are loud and slow, but so what. If you want fast and quite buy an S600.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Well I wouldn't say they are as loud as a cement mixer, some of those guys wear ear plugs.

I still think the W126 is one of the best sedans ever made, by anyone.

The article was fraught with outright false information about MB diesels. Even the guy that owned the diesels chimed-in with multiple false statements and incomplete information about the cars he bought and owns. One thing.....it looked like the 300TD in his driveway has the out-of-state license plates from his "lake house" state. Wonder if he's avoiding paying taxes in his home state?!
