Got my new turbo downpipe today

Hey guys, I am about to install my 300D turbo downpipe today. I have been driving around with burning teary eyes for too long!! I finally discovered that I had a leaking exhaust pipe at the bellows part of the downpipe.

Are there any tricks or secrets to replacing this pipe? It looks pretty straight forward.

Thanks!

If it's anything like the one on my 300SD, just take care about where the wrench swings. I don't know how many times I bashed knuckles, even while trying to avoid doing so!

Did you get the new seal that goes between downpipe and the center muffler/pipe?

Wow Guys...that was an easy job!! Just shot WD40 all over all the bolts and it came apart no problem!! Fitment was perfect. This was an "Ansa" pipe. The engine compartment is much quieter!! I had a MASSIVE GAP in my bellows section. When I get my camera back, I will take a picture.

Folks, If you are living withone of these leaking....fix it!!

Oh and yes I changed the bottom dougnut gasket also.

Mine isn't even connected anymore at the bend at the bottom. Most people don't even notice that my exhaust pipe is about two feet long.

Here is a picture

Here is a picture of the downpipe I removed from the 300. No wonder I was getting burning eyes and feeling nausiated when I drove. The exhaust was going up and into the fresh air intake.

Folks, don't let it go on this long!!! This was a super easy job and done for way under $200 in parts...

Do you know the dimensions of the flexible section? Namely the diameter of the solid part, length of flexible section, and diameter of solid part. Normally I'd fastlane a new factory one, but we have a bunch of weld-in woven flex patches lying around the shop here...

I thought about that too and it would be so easy to weld in a new flex section. The rest of my pipe looked like crap so I decided to change it all.

Needless to say the pipe diameter is 2.36 inch OD.
