Benz by Blair in houston does an excellent job at transmissions, but they are pricey.

Find out if Blair has SDS first; the adaptation values and codes that SDS provides will tell the story.

Star Diagnostic System. It's the M-B proprietary scanner.

Trans problems

I'm planning on buying a 96 E 300.I choose 96 because I don't like a elect. key.Are you saying that their transmissions not as stout as a w126?
I'd like to know what goes wrong with these cars.

I've been having shifting issues as well. It sounds similar to what the above linked post describes, but its for a '79 300SD tranny.

Here in Austin, its been below freezing for the past few days. During this period, the first time it tries to shift from 2 to 3, it has to rev WAY high to do so. After the first time it shifts, however, it seems to warm up, and it shifts fine after that.

Perhaps its time for me to try synthetic tranny fluid...

Yeah, it's been crazy cold lately (I'm sure the NE-sters will give us the violin) and I'm glad I got the garage cleaned out to keep Brown Betty out of the cold.

My dad mentioned to me while visiting this weekend that I should put the tranny in neutral while warming up... Says it helps the tranny warm up. Any thoughts?
