Unhappy Noooo i'm Car-less!!!!

Well, decided the 85 300D wasn't for me, and ended up giving it back to the original owner yesterday. Money payed back in full and no problems came of it. The owner was actually really cool with it and said he had another buyer.

So as of now, I don't have a car until my 70 220D comes back to life probably next week. This will be a first in a long time. Our house, with only one Mercedes and myself without a car. I'm actually really excited for the 220 and will have fun with it as my daily driver It's going to be fun getting it registered though... Hasn't been registered since 1994

I know the CA DMV is going to have a blast with that lol

So overall I've gone through: 1970 something Citroen AMI 6 Break,1970 something VW Squareback, 1986 190E, 1990 190E, 1996 BMW 3 series, 1997 BMW 3 series coupe, 1986 300E, 1983 240D, 1985 300D and now this 220D. That's not bad.... lol

I'm out my 300D until spring :'( and I'm stuck borrowing a Camry. Not that I dislike the Camry, but it's not my car(much less an MB diesel)

I feel your pain!

You're 19 and have gone through 10 cars? Wow.....

I'm 22 and have had the same car (my first) for nearly 6 years now....

My wife is on her 4th car though. Hopefully her MB stays with us a while!

I quit counting vehicles owned at 110 several years ago. Not all ran when purchased, or sold, but did in between. That count includes 4 trucks and 3 bikes. Most were purchased in the 60's thru the 90's. In the 60's you could buy a great car for $50.00 or so. A 1953 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery set me back $35.00 because it had a "bad rear seal" that turned out to be a bad valve cover gasket. I used to run that car at the Muncie Ind. Drag strip. there was a 1955 Chevy dragster at the time named "Shake, Rattle & Run" that made the rounds. I named my car "Shake , Rattle $ Rust". I could be 1950 v8 fords with that car running stock class. You could buy used engines at the local junk yards for $10.00, $20.00 for a low miler.
Those were the days!

If the DMV tries to take you to the bank on registration, claim that you did not know the back fees where so high when you purchased it. They can have you fill out a document stating that you did not know the back fees where so high and to please reduce the amount. I did this when i bought my kingswood impala, They wanted 400 bucks for it and it was reduced to 200 .

Commitment can be good. Put your heart into that 220D. Whisper into its ear three times: "It's you and me, baby, till the hubcaps fall off."

As an MB lot boy in 1975-77 at VIP Motors in Palm Springs, I undoubtedly washed that 220D after servicing, and perhaps even drove its owner to his/her work or home.

I couldn't imagine not having a car until spring!! I'm sad of not having one for a week or so lol The camrey shouldn't be too bad that way when you get the MB back it'll feel so nice!

Yeah, I have some history with cars lol, Been upsessed with Mercedes-Benz and BMW ever since I can remember. When I was real little I used to have a little plastic toy chest with wheels and I would get a marker and (the the best of my ability at the time) draw the Mercedes and BMW logo and push myself around

So when it came time to actually owning a car I was really excited! The Citroen, was originally going to be my first car. It was a 2cylinder engine and was white. We paid money for it, but the Romanian guy we were buying it from sold it behind our backs. The VW squareback was awesome and I loved it. That was going to be my next one, and that car was the first car I learned stick shift on. Well it ended up needing a clutch and went in. Sat for awhile and the mechanic sold it, which caused a big ordeal because we hadn't purchased it from the lady yet but someone else sold it. The 190E's and the BMW's kind of just came and went, they ended up asking for more when we already had a set price, or it needed to go in for some repairs. The 300E was my first real real car that was actually mine.

After seeing how bad a shape my friends 91 300E was and all the problems it had, I decided I wanted a less electrical and more mechanical car, I actually forgot what made me want Diesel, I guess I just wanted something different. My original goal was to get a w124 Diesel but I saw the 240D for sale and loved it. I really did like the 240D and probably will get another one someday. So right now it's all on this 220D which i'm so excited to get and drive. The interior is immaculate because it was in a barn for 17 years and the original owner took care of it, and to my luck kept all of the paperwork, it even has its original window sticker. Once it gets going, i'll be sure to take tons of pictures before we clean it and after we clean it so you all can see the new addition to the family!

Ahhh, those must have been the days, I really wish I could have seen all that. Sounds so cool, 110 + cars that's awesome, I plan to be the same way one day

Very cool. I spritzed many 220Ds and drove a few (and countless other MBs, including a 300SL roadster), on the street. Baby that thing. I hope you have a carport to save it from the desert sun. Hope to see it (again?) some day.

Remember: "It's you and me, baby..."

As to the DMV, you might show proof that it has been non running until you went to register it.

I know that Washington has some flexibility in the fees for vehicles that were not road capable, as it would have been impossible to have been driving them unregistered.
