Actually yes it does. He states original motor and the tranny was rebuilt three times. Of course he could be lying, but he still states this.

He's probably lying. I'll bet he's got over 900,000 miles on it, but just wants to make it sound good . . . .

Yeah, it probably has already rolled over once but he figured he'd have no takers if he stated that!

Someone really should get this car and get it to 1 million miles. They may get a new car from Mercedes! Or at least get on a commercial like Ford Trucks.

The only problem is the next owner would be putting on 11% of that one million miles, and it would take many years.

900k is enough... Enshrine it.

What would be most impressive would be an Odometer working correctly for that long!

I wonder if anyone has considered the possibility of a misprint on the mileage.

Since they preface the ad with "high mileage" and report 3 transmission rebuilds, I don't think so. Its unlikey the transmission crapped out that many times in 89,000 miles.

Why not drive it if it still drives OK? I wouldn't drive it just for the sake of trying to reach 1 million miles, but if it runs fine and is in good structural condition, keep it on the road ... these cars like to be driven, not enshrined.

That said, I probably wouldn't take a cross-country trip in it by myself without a solid backup plan ...

I guess enshrine wouldn't be the best choice of words. Heck, if I had a 300SL gull wing I would drive it as much as I can.

I'd build a nice new climate controlled addition on to my shop for it to live in. Something with a nice porcelain tile floor.

... but you better believe I would still drive it!

Buy it then send it to MBUSA to get a replacement...as long as you can ask proof from the PO of maintenance records dating as far back as possible to document the miles

To heck with that! I WOULD WANT TO KEEP IT FOR MYSELF! It's way cooler than anything MB would try to give me as a replacement! I'd let them have pictures of it, though.

I noticed that as well. Perhaps he noticed this thread and decided to keep it and try to get it to 1 million miles himself and then sell it to a museum or trade it with Mercedes for a new one!

Or perhaps another forum member swooped in and picked it up.
