Yes she will have the "gorilla knob" There is also an idle adjustment knob on the dash.
Radiator is very hard to find and be very carful when taking apart the housing for the thermostat when you get to that.

The radiator should be all metal and can be hot-tanked or rebuilt at a radiator shop

Exclamation IT STARTED!!!!!!

IT FINALLY STARTED TODAY!!!!!!!!!! After sitting for a year with no start and sitting in a barn previous to that for 17 years she finally started again today. Sadly I am at work atm but I got a call from my dad and for the first startup I got to hear it over the phone! Just wish I could have been there!

It's a bummer though! I can't drive it today because they need to order the part they shuts off the motor and it won't be in until Monday! Whatever if I waited 8 months I can wait until Monday...

My dad said it sounds better than my 240D did and it's running so smooth. UGHHHHH I wish I could have been there lol, just wanted to let you all know! Almost there!!!!!!

Thumbs up ! CONGRADULATIONS !

I've been there , many times over .

You'll soon have it sorted out and driving sweetly like Ma 'Benz intended .

Once in a while these pop up in the SFV Pick-A-Part yards , anways complet and no one ever takes any parts , they get beat to death the crushed

FWIW , try ATF in the oil bath air filter , it'll make it self - cleaning , you'll be amazed at how much sil & dirt builds up in the cup .

re-core if I remember correctly it was several months ago.
I just keep the car off the highway and she does not get hot.

Well, the mechanic said he'd take her in on saturday which is cool, because I need this car asap lol

300$ isn't bad to do that to the radiator, I REALLY would prefer to do that, that way I can keep the original radiator. Rather than buying a new one.

This was seriously a MB rescue, from how nasty it looked while it was rotting away in the lot to how it now looks almost brand new. I also have a 15 gal reserve tank in the trunk.... The first owner lived in Mecca California and there was nothing there back then, especially now so I imagine he had to buy a reserve tank so he could make it to a nearby Diesel station back in the 70's... Works for me though now that I have a duel tank system, woot. I can go from California to Texas and only have to fill up 1 1/2 times....

Although the entire fuel system will probably need to be cleaned, I took out the fuel filter and damn.... Looked like someone dipped it in melted chocolate and let it dry.... Also what kind of oil do I put in the air filter housing? Just normal engine oil?

Also, how hard is it to take off the fuel tank and clean it? I wanted to get that done before it goes, especially the reserve tank.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I get my comp back up and running. The mechanic called and wanted us to bring it today, and he's spending the whole day on it tomorrow as I'm told, with the words "You should be driving it tomorrow (Saturday)".....

I really hope so!!!! I need a car ASAP. ughhhhh I'll keep you all updated. I'm REALLY curious to see what the REAL problem was. I have my faith riding on this mechanic, hope he doesn't let me down!!!
