AHH NOT A FORD!
Must of been the last words of this poor OM617 before she was mercilessly bolted into a Ford Ranger

I like the idea behind it and all but I almost died in a Ranger so there's no going back to ford for me..
..I bet it's got a pretty good 0-60, eh? |

Thats pretty impressive. I'd actually consider buying that for a work/tow stuff truck! Looks like they did a pretty good job.

cutting out the radiator support looks a little scary, wonder what they did to keep the fenders from spreading under their own weight. I would love to do this, but I think I would use an S10

Looks like there is a bar across the front where the old one used to be.. still a little scary. I would love to do this to ad S-10, there would be a lot of room underneath for running fuel lines for a biodiesel setup plus the bed for picking up WVO, sounds like a good summer project for me. Can you imagine how easy it would be to adjust a modulator with that much room!? I might head out that way to check it out and bring you guys some pics |

I'd like to take it for a drive. Wonder if it'll burn rubber without any weight in the back...

Not bad, looks like a decent job. Still, I'd have to ask why they are selling after putting so much work into it.
Its a 78-79 300SD engine so I very much doubt it has 200,000 miles, just as I doubt the 30-36mpg claim. Rangers are only a few hundred pounds lighter than a 300D but have the aerodynamics (and quality) of a turd. Here is a different Ranger conversion (by member Forcedes): ![]() Last edited by ForcedInduction; 03-15-2009 at 11:39 PM. |

The craigs list Ranger is using a pre EGR engine by the manifolds. Probably a 79 - 79 SD.
Wonder what the guy used for an air filter? think it is a good looking set up. He didn`t show the front, wonder what the grill looks like with the front modified. The one Lance posted looks like a clean installation also. Charlie

Also might consider EPA laws. I don't think it is legal to put in an older motor in a newer car.

In NY, if the vehicle was OBDII, the new (or older) engine MUST bes OBDII. If the vehicle was not OBDII (~95 or older) then you can put in just about any diesel that will fit and just change the registration to diesel for fuel type.
