There's nothing wrong with using the same Rotella you're putting in the 240 unless the owners manual for a 95 demands synthetic. Can't imagine it would, but stranger things have happened. As conventional oils go, Rotella is one of "the good ones" - there's a reason it's been the farmer's favorite for so many years.

Mobil 1 Truck and SUV is not the same as Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. You want the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. Good rule of thumb, is look for 5W-40 NOT 0W-40.

A good rule of thumb, is to make sure the oil is diesel rated regardless of the weight. It should be C for combustion engine. I believe the latest rating is CJ.

so ended up going with Pentosin, 5W40.
and had fuel filters changed.
grand total of $135.
being away from home (@ the Condo in FL) I didn't think doing an oil change would be a swell idea... used a shop here in clearwater, great first experience thus far.

but, when I do it myself, once again, I'll think about ya guys.

Sounds good. From what I have seen in the US, ALL of the 5W-40 oils have a fairly high diesel rating (CI-4 or better). Other than the 15W-40 oils, with very few exceptions, most other weights have only a CD diesel rating or none at all.

I used to believe that also. Then I ran across the Castrol 5w40 which is CF rated.

I'll have to look into that. Another reason that I don't like Syntec.
