So once you unplug that block drain, you have to flush from which point?

With the radiator out, can I just flush into the engine and out the bottom hose?
This being done with the engine idling, heater on MAX, and Block drain unplugged.

I think there is also something under the hood near the firewall that needs attention to flush properly.....but will have to look at the book again...and it may not be on all cars... often the case with MB instructions...

I think this three flushes means having the clean water in the system and bringing it up to temperature... then taking it out again... and again...and again..... and again.... no wonder so many people have put this maintenance item off....

I just did this over the weekend. I still need to do a rise or two more. I used distilled water that I bought at a local True Value hardware store. It was $1.49 each. I took the heater core out of the circiut for the flush. I cleaned it out previously. I did do a flush with a Prestone Flush. Then I did a flush with water and some dawn liquid detergent. Next was the Citric acid flush. I ran up to Indy twice, so about four hours or more. I did a complete drain. between each of these. I but in one gallon of distiled water, then mixed in some baking soda with another 1/2 gallon or so and added it. The radiator top looked like one of those vinegar baking soda volcanos. I think I ran for an hour or may 1/2 hour on that. I drained just the radiator and then added water. I think I ran up to Indy on that and left it over night. I did a complete drain, then added distiled water and some simple Green and Dawn Liquid, not a lot. I ran that. I need ot drain that and add at least one more cycle of distilled water.
During the citrus flush the water looked like a light chocolate brown. I do have 3 gallons of Zerex G-05 for this. I will need to get some more for my Ford Contour.

For the OM603, I don't NEED the forced open thermostat to do this flush do I?

I was thinking of simply removing the thermostat, hook up the housing, do the flush, replace with new seal and thermostat, close up house and fill with zerex...

Agree or Disagree?
