woohoo finally got a W123 5spd shifter

from Ebay.de.

hopefully I will get the shifter delivered next week and I will get my 5 spd installed finally. DHL tracking is nothing if not frustrating. I will append the installation to this post. I still need to make the shift rods as they are not available from MB anywhere according to classic center. Doesnt seem like it should be too bad to make a set.

UPS ' tracking' is not any better...

I had an item which was going through San Antonio a while back... online it showed all the usual correct ' arrived','shipped' etc... it showed it had arrived in Austin .... but actually they had accidentally left it on the dock at San Antonio.... which means they are just plain lying about half the time.. they are certainly not using those scanners to show where things really are in shipment. That is all eyewash and sales pitch...

What did you end up paying for it?

How much was the shipping?

We all (atleast I do!) want to know!

A W201 5 speed shifter is adaptable.

I have a W201 5 speed shifter and I test fit it in my 300D and it fit. The only difference I culd see is the 201 shifter rod where the knob attaches is bent back slightly.

I will take a few pictures today. the shift arm lengths are different which could be adjusted with welding, other than that I think it is likely it will be ok with minor adjustments to the mounting.
