That`s a nice looking SD from what I can see. Don`t junk it, look for a used engine, they come up on Craigslist. I was just looking at jaxed.com, and saw 3. It does a larger search of craigs list.

I know that sinking feeling when the eng goes. we were between somewhere and nowhere, Nevada when the chain broke. It was us, the truckers flying by at 70+, and the jack rabbits.

there were three HP ratings on the OM616...

1) Not much power
2) Even less power
3) Not nearly enough power!! 240D w/auto

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

If you want to replace the engine.....I know where there is one....with about 165K+ miles on it.

Find a local indy who works on these things. Give him a call and see how much it would be to get a used replacement engine. Probably a lot less than getting a new car. Don't give up yet.

I second that! That is a sharp looking car, don't let it get junked just because it needs an engine. Its well worth a motor swap, the car could last many many more years with a new engine.
