There are a few low overhead operations in town flourishing because they don't pull the crap big dealerships do.

From the private standpoint, there are too many people with unrealistic expectations for the value of the car. There are a few in the cars section of this forum that are priced 2-3 times more than their worth. Then there's the woman down the street from my grandmother's who has her rotten, nasty 200k mile 560SEC parked in front of her house for nearly a year with a $9995.00 asking price which she has never budged from.

How about a dealer who advertises an 84 280GE as being in perfect condition and wants 30K; Who then fails to mention the high idle, lack of kickdown from 4th gear and about a dozen other faults....but who then refuses to comprimise on the price after the faults are pointed out........

Your driving a diesel, so don't put a gas in the tank! Come on folks get with the program!

The only gas you have is the natural kind!
If you ever drove an 80's model gutless wonder...Chevy Chevette, Datsun F10, etc. where pushing them helped alot, accelerator was a mere wish. It became a gas pedal. Accelerator is the correct and proper term though. Our old school auto mechanics teacher said, fast cars have accelerators, the rest have gas pedals, cause it does the opposite of the brake pedal, just not very fast. Never commented about diesels except you have to be an idiot to kill one.

Here a "cool" Hollywood blunder...remember the movie Speed. That bus was obviously a diesel. The screwdriver went through tank...up comes Keanu, and Sandra asks him what "that smell is". GAS was the answer... "It's DIESEL, you morons" I wanted to yell at the screen...

When I am asked "what kind of gas mileage do you get?" My reply is "I do not know, because this car does not is not gas powered."

x2 for the td nonsense. D stands for Diesel, T stands for touring (wagon), there is no letter for turbo.

How about starting a diesel by turning on the ignition?

My biggest pet peeve are people who turn out into the left turn lane and then wait to merge into traffic.

This is illegal use of the left turn lane. I've almost run into half a dozen people when I pull into the left turn lane to make a legit turn at the same time they pull into the lane right in front of me so they can merge into traffic. They just couldn't wait 10 - 20 more seconds.

All while I'm in my diesel. (since I need to make this diesel related)

When you are out shopping for cars.... You ask specific questions about the car before you drive all over hell and back. The owner says it is in "mint condition" and "no surprises".

Then when you get there to check the car out.... The paint is awful, door dings everywhere, scratches, trans. fluid is brown and burnt, wire ties holding things together (maybe some duct tape), oil leaks everywhere, interior pieces broken or missing....

I think you all know what I am talking about!

My pet peeve comes up on this forum:
1. OP (poster #1) needs help and asks a serious question.
2. Gets a bad information reply from a member (poster #2) that likes to do a lot of posting.
3. # 2 gets corrected by poster #3 (who may or may not know the right answer) and the thread gets highjacked by debate between #2 & #3 (maybe others join in the debate and don't read the entire thread so they don't know the original question)
4. OP is totally confused and doesn't get the help in a clear manner.

Bottom line - If you don't know what you're talking about - don't post!
