Has anyone ever used a lucite borescope?

I just got an engine that had been stored on its side and a nut went into the opening in the #4 exhaust manifold of the cylinder head. I'd like to see if I could locate it and pull it out with a hook or a magnet. Gotta see before I can decide.

Did anyone here ever use a Lucite flexible borescope with light?

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Can you roll the engine to the other side, and see if it will "roll" back out? (do not rotate the crank!)

I would go to Woodcraft and get a set of their Rare Earth magnets... attach one to something with a little bend to it and try that first... they are very powerful. Watch out about getting your fingers between them when they are trying to link up... ouch !!
I used a few of them over my head to give me more headroom without having to cut my perfect ( except hanging too low ) headliner. Worked great... can sit up in the car like a grown person now.

Saab headliners used to drop predictably like that.

The engine is bolted to a roll-around stand and the whole thing weighs just under 900 lbs so it's kinda hard to rotate around.

IF I could find a way to do what you suggest, which is a great suggestion, I will.

In the meantime, I'm gonna check out the rare earth magnets after work tomorrow.

Gotta make sure I always get to work a little early, just started a new job after my last one ended with 4 days' notice. Can't mess that up.

Keep the suggestions coming, please.

Try a air gun with a long tip and blow it out.
